Pigtown /
Carroll-Camden, Baltimore
Sitting at the connecting point of the Pigtown neighborhood and the Carroll-Camden Industrial District, the BIC is the center of one of Baltimore’s hardest working areas. Surrounded on 3 sides by blocks of modest worker homes that once supported the countless blue-collar jobs focused around the B&O Railroad and close proximity to the harbor. Today the area is adjacent to the Stadium and Entertainment District and the growing University of Maryland Biopark.
At the neighborhood level, the area has attracted an eclectic mix of businesses, including boutique shops, industrial manufacturers, tech companies, restaurants and more. Plus, the convenient location cannot be understated—we’re a walk to downtown Baltimore and we have direct access to most of the city’s major transportation routes.
Carroll-Camden is one of Baltimore’s original areas dedicated to industry. It was the founding home of North America’s first gasworks production, the Gas Light Company of Baltimore, now BGE. Its strategic connection to the B&O Railroad in its early days and later I-95 and the Baltimore Washington Parkway made it the perfect connector for material-based commerce to the outside world and the nearby Port of Baltimore. Today its low-rise vintage warehouses are home to long-standing businesses like Ellicott Dredge, STX, and D&D Steel, as well as newcomers like Mayorga Coffee, Sandown Millworks, and Herbiculture.
